# n94 — the pairs ledger: what combinations of constants teach
# (2026-07-10; companion to CONSTANTS.md — the dimensionless layer)

Single constants carry units; PAIRS carry physics. Five pairs
interrogated; one delivers a sharp new falsifiable prediction.

## PAIR 1 — alpha_G/alpha and the composite Planck mass
alpha_G/alpha = 1/Q (the framework's central lock). Inverting:
   M_Planck = m_anchor * sqrt(Q/alpha)     [verified: 2.177e-8 kg, both anchors]
TEACHING: in this framework the Planck mass is NOT a substrate input —
it is COMPOSITE: the anchor mass amplified by the monitor's
overdamping. Corollary, against a near-universal assumption of quantum
gravity: THE PLANCK LENGTH IS NOT THE LATTICE SPACING. The framework
carries two distinct UV scales with different origins — l_s (substrate
discreteness, < 4.3e-27 m from GRB dispersion) and l_Planck (emergent,
from Q) — and nothing requires them equal. Most QG programs identify
them by fiat; this framework measurably separates their bookkeeping.

## PAIR 2 — S_inf vs alpha^-1: "the 3.6 problem"
S_inf(3D)/alpha^-1 = 493.83/137.036 = 3.604. If the EM reading is
right, the matter sector's charge normalization must supply exactly
this factor. Registered as a NAMED TARGET (like the tensor junction's
Delta-beta = 0.5000): the day a matter sector exists, it owes us 3.604
— or the EM reading dies of arithmetic. Not a claim; a debt made
precise. (No numerological decomposition attempted; the F10 lesson
stands.)

## PAIR 3 — THE NEW PREDICTION: drifting alpha, frozen mu
From the measured conformal weight (G ~ k^-2, hence S ~ k^2 and every
dressing cost ~ k^-2), a UNIFORM substrate drift moves alpha and all
masses TOGETHER:
   d ln alpha = -2 d ln k ;  d ln (m_i/m_j) = 0.
PREDICTION: if fundamental-constant drift is ever confirmed, alpha
moves and mu = m_p/m_e DOES NOT (d ln mu/d ln alpha = 0) — sharply
distinct from GUT-unification frameworks, which predict mu drifting
~40x FASTER than alpha. One future observation separates the two
families of theories. FALSIFIER: any confirmed drift with
|dmu/mu| >= |dalpha/alpha| kills the uniform-substrate reading.
[Class A for the scaling; the "uniform drift" premise is the declared
assumption — non-uniform substrate evolution is not covered.]

## PAIR 4 — k_B*T vs hbar*gamma: the knee's thermal twin
The electron-anchored knee (5.7e18 s^-1) corresponds to T = 4.3e7 K —
solar-flare and cluster-gas temperatures. FLAG (qualitative): hot
astrophysical plasmas thermally straddle the audit scale; whether
thermal T00 fluctuations at the knee leave any signature is an open
question, parked, not claimed.

## PAIR 5 — rho_Lambda/rho_Planck = 1.1e-123
The famous number, restated in the framework's terms: the CC wound
(CONSTANTS.md) expressed in Planck pairs. The framework's structure
(Gaussian zero + xi^2 bill + composite Planck scale) REARRANGES this
number's ingredients but does not yet compute it. Left standing next
to the 1e89 as the same open wound seen from two sides. No numerology.

## The pairs balance
One new falsifiable prediction (frozen mu — anti-GUT, testable by any
future drift detection); one structural inversion (Planck scale
composite and dissociated from the lattice); one named debt (3.604);
one qualitative flag (the thermal twin); one wound restated. Pairs
delivered exactly what singles could not: the dimensionless layer is
where this framework either locks onto nature or snaps — and it now
has two four-digit debts (0.5000 and 3.604) plus one drift-ratio (0)
waiting for the sectors that owe them.
