# n242 — The twin relics: the quench triangle — a new cosmological prediction

## The structure

The theory's cosmology mandates a finite-time crystallization (KZ, n136/n200/n221) — the same event that (i) makes the vacuum a glass (the successor's foundation) and (ii) mints the winding defects (the DM candidate, hostage to the R-branch). A relaxing defect network **must** radiate gravitational waves — gravitating defects have no choice. So the crystallization leaves **twin relics locked through one parameter, the quench time τ_Q**:

- **Ω_DM** ∝ n_defect(τ_Q) — the KZ law, exponent measured in-house (σ = 0.57, band [0.50, 0.62], n200);
- **Ω_GW(defect)** — the network's relaxation radiation, a different power of the same n_defect(τ_Q);
- **the minicluster scale** (n187 channel 3) — the correlation length at freezing, a third function of τ_Q.

**Three observables, one parameter: the quench triangle.** Any two determine τ_Q; the third becomes a no-dial consistency check. This is the registry's first *over-determined cosmological structure*.

## The near-term bets (prediction 38, [conditional · pre-data], hostage-flagged like its DM siblings)

The nHz stochastic background (NANOGrav 15-yr and successors) is the live arena. Conditional on the R = 1 branch (windings = DM):

1. **A defect component exists in the nHz sky** — obligatory, at an amplitude tied to Ω_DM through the triangle (the coefficient awaits the tension/units — honest).
2. **The background will resist full resolution into individual SMBH binaries**: continued PTA campaigns will under-deliver resolvable sources relative to SMBH-only expectations, and the residual isotropy will stay high. (Under the pure-SMBH reading, individual detections are expected imminently — this bet has a clock on it.)
3. **The spectral index will keep drifting from the pure-SMBH 13/3** as data accumulates (the current 15-yr value, γ ≈ 3.2 ± 0.6, already sits mildly low — cited as *live context, not confirmation*).
4. Entry 24's stance sharpens within the triangle: the background is defect-born + astrophysical, **never inflationary** — unchanged, now with a positive counterpart instead of a bare null.

**Kills:** the background fully accounted by resolved SMBH binaries with index settling at 13/3 (kills the defect *dominance* and empties bet 2–3); the R = 4 branch (kills the whole family with its DM siblings); a measured Ω_GW(defect)/Ω_DM pair violating any τ_Q (kills the triangle — the sharpest, once units price one side).

## Honesty ledger

Conditional on the crisis branch (flagged); amplitudes unpriced (the triangle's *relations* are the content); the KZ exponent is in-house numerics on analog models; NANOGrav's current index is context, not evidence. What makes it a real prediction: the *existence* of the lock — in this theory the nHz sky and the dark-matter density are not independent facts, and no other framework on the table ties them through a measured exponent.
