# n231 — Known anomalies through the bridge: DESI gets a mechanism-level verdict, and GW170817 becomes the conversion cap

**Date:** 2026-07-12 · **Question (the human's):** predict consequences / analyze known anomalies with the current structures (the two ledgers + the measured bridge χ = 0.15).

## 1. The DESI evolving-dark-energy preference — the losing bet gains a mechanism argument

The theory has bet since n110 that the w₀wₐ preference (2.8–4.2σ) dissolves as systematics — and has been losing. The bridge changes the analysis's *depth*: under P3″, evolving dark energy has a natural mechanization — **inter-ledger energy flow** (the vacuum's two books trading stored energy over cosmic time, n229 channel 4). And that mechanization comes with teeth:

- **If the flow runs through the bridge** (the only computed coupling, χ = 0.15): the EM ledger drifts with the gravity ledger, so **α must drift alongside G at ratio O(χ)**. Arithmetic: DESI-scale w-evolution needs vacuum drift ~10⁻¹¹/yr; the implied α̇/α ~ 2×10⁻¹²/yr sits **six orders above the optical-clock bound** (10⁻¹⁸/yr). Even parked at the LLR cap on Ġ/G, the implied α-drift violates clocks by ×1500. **Through-bridge evolving dark energy is dead on arrival — the anomaly, if real, cannot be this mechanism.**
- **If the flow is diagonal** (gravity-ledger only, bypassing the bridge): α stays frozen, but then Ġ/G must carry the *entire* drift — ~10⁻¹¹/yr against LLR's 10⁻¹⁴/yr: excluded by three orders, exactly the n110 arithmetic, now sector-resolved.

**Consequence, registered:** within P3″ there is *no admissible channel* by which the vacuum's own bookkeeping produces DESI-scale w-evolution — the dissolution bet is no longer a taste, it is the framework's only self-consistent position, and its kill sharpens: **robust w(z) ≠ −1 would falsify the two-ledger vacuum's cosmology outright** (not just strain it), since both flow routes are excluded by clocks and LLR. Prediction 11 upgraded accordingly.

## 2. GW170817's d_L equality — from a pass to a measuring device

The stochastic ledger conversion (n229: photon↔graviton on the vacuum's roughness) predicts both GW→EM leakage and a gravitational opacity of light — the same physics class as the old photon–axion "gray dimming" proposals for SNe. Two known datasets now do work: **GW170817's d_L(GW) = d_L(EM) agreement caps one-way conversion at O(10%) over 40 Mpc**, and Pantheon-class SNe photon-number conservation caps the optical leg over Gpc. Shape armable now: P_conv ∝ x²_cell·(L/ℓ_c); the caps push the per-cell mixing to the 10⁻²²-class once the units bridge prices ℓ_c. The anomaly-analysis direction: any future claimed "gray dimming" tension in SNe cosmology has a P3″ interpretation *whose GW-side counterpart is obligatory* — dimming without matching GW-side loss would falsify the conversion reading in one stroke.

## 3. Swept and refused (recorded so the F10 discipline is visible)

The Webb α-dipole: the glass predicts *spatial* coupling scintillation only at the (microscopic) disorder scale, self-averaged to nothing at cosmological scales — no support; the systematics bet stands. The Hubble tension: no mechanism reaches it (the 70.7 coincidence stays refused, n185). The Cs/Rb 5.4σ: unchanged systematics bet. GW190521-class EM counterparts: conversion is far too small after self-averaging; refused.

**Class: §1 [B — arithmetic on measured χ + declared flow scenarios]; §2 [shape, armable; amplitude awaits units]; §3 [refusals, F10]. The bet the theory was losing is now the bet it cannot lose without dying — which is what a mechanism is for.**
