# n205 — The trunk audit accepted: the pole belongs to the constraint, the knee belongs to the postulate, and n48's gates are re-called

**Date:** 2026-07-11 · **Source:** `MATHEMATICAL_AUDIT.md` (adversarial mathematical audit of the trunk itself: the constraint, the statics, the dark-state statement, the n48 knee). **Both hard claims verified in-repo before acceptance; all corrections applied same-day per rule 5.**

## 1. The attribution correction — the deepest of the program

- **Old claim:** the information metric *produces* Coulomb attraction ("nothing declared"; the sign as an output of the Fubini–Study price).
- **Failure (verified):** the long-range pole is forced by the staggered zero of the unsigned constraint symbol |A(q)|² = 4cos²(q/2). *Any* positive local cost delivers the exact Green form — reproduced here with the identity cost (linear 1D Coulomb, audit's own table: 10⁻¹⁵). Attraction within the chosen source sector is an implication of constraint + positivity. And "unique remaining vacuum-owned functional" was never a theorem (already conceded, tenth critique — now with the mechanism named).
- **Replacement:** **the constraint operator owns the pole; the cost owns the coefficient.** The honest statement is *stronger as mathematics* (the Coulomb form is cost-robust) and *weaker as narrative* (the vacuum's information geometry does not cause the force's form — it prices it). Applied to index sector I, mechanisms, and queued for paper I's next revision. New regression test T1b locks the identity-cost check permanently.

## 2. The knee correction

- **Old presentation:** the Lorentzian as the framework's derived signature, "0.3% (n48)".
- **Failure (verified in our own prereg):** n48's registered gates P1, P2, and the knee interval **failed as written** (unit-convention calibration — ν vs ω — recorded in the prereg at the time), and the 0.3% match is explicitly **FLAGGED POST-HOC** in the file. Separately and more fundamentally: the Lorentzian is the transfer function of the assumed single-pole relaxation — a consequence of the Markovian monitor *postulate*, not of the substrate Hamiltonian. Multi-pole or memory-kernel monitors give other shapes.
- **Replacement, applied site-wide:** the shape claims now say exactly this — the Lorentzian tests the monitor postulate; n48's gate record is stated honestly wherever 0.3% appeared (index, mechanisms, results, experiment). What survives untouched: zero-at-rest as the dark-state property (the audit affirms the Lindblad theorem in its narrow correct form), the ω² onset, and the n128/n183 mediator models — which *are* single-pole realizations, holding the shape to 11%.

## 3. What the audit affirms (its own list, banked)

The Gaussian fidelity-metric formula and Fréchet derivative (10⁻⁶ check); the constrained-minimum algebra; the dark-subspace theorem in its correct narrow form; the single-pole transfer-function algebra. The trunk's mathematics is sound; its *causal narrative* was over-attributed.

## 4. The audit's five next gates, adopted into the program

(1) uniqueness theorem for the cost or a declared cost-family sweep (T1b is the first member); (2) vary A independently of G — which conclusions are the constraint's alone; (3) **construct the joint matter–substrate Lindblad operators L_e and prove two dressed branches are common zero modes** — the real missing dark-state derivation, now the trunk's sharpest open item; (4) derive the relaxation kernel from that generator (poles reported, not postulated); (5) re-register the n48 gates in ω with proper transients, against multi-pole and non-Markovian alternatives. Also adopted: fatal floating-point exceptions + backend pinning for validation scripts (the warning class has appeared thrice now).

**Class: corrections [applied, rule 5]; the audit's affirmed list [banked]; gates 1–5 [program]. The trunk's honest shape after this: a sound mathematical core whose two headline narratives — "geometry causes the force's form" and "the knee is derived" — are re-attributed to the constraint operator and the monitor postulate respectively.**
