# n149 — the speed lock, reduced to its final form
# (2026-07-11. Three numerical assaults recorded inconclusive; the
# resolution is structural, and it constrains the sandpile.)

## The three assaults, owned
n147 (raw moments): UV/zone-edge dominated, ratio -8.9 — meaningless.
n148 (subtracted fit): universal term undetectable at m = 128 — the
n140 edge zero softens the very non-analyticity being hunted.
n149 R1 (real-space contours): oscillatory lattice structure swamps
the invariance at accessible separations (spreads 149%, 309%).
Lattice numerics cannot decide this. Stop brute-forcing.

## The continuum statement (standard, and decisive for the IR part)
In the continuum, the massless 2+1D pair bubble reduces by tensor
algebra to powers of the invariant |Q|^2 = Om^2 + c^2 q^2: THE
UNIVERSAL (NON-ANALYTIC) PART OF THE INDUCED ACTION IS LORENTZ-FORMED
BY CONSTRUCTION — c_g = c for that part is a theorem, not a
measurement. Everything the lattice fights about is the ANALYTIC
(cutoff-scale) residue.

## The final form of the speed lock (the R2 alternative)
The marginal mode's dispersion is governed by [analytic residue] +
[universal part]. Therefore:
c_g = c IFF the pinning mechanism cancels the lattice-analytic
parts of BOTH kinetic coefficients coherently — i.e. iff the
sandpile's counterterm couples to the SAME operator whose
   correlator generates them.
THE CONSTRAINT ON THE MODEL CLASS: the avalanche trigger must live
in the MATTER-STRESS variable (rearrangement responds to load), not
in the bare coupling variable. Physically natural — real sandpiles
topple under load, and the framework's rearrangement (surgery,
n117) is driven by the pump through matter. With a stress-triggered
sandpile, the counterterm is generated through the matter correlator
itself: the analytic parts cancel coherently, the universal part
survives, and c_g = c FOLLOWS. With a bare-coupling trigger, c_g
would be a lattice number and GW170817 executes.
THE SPEED LOCK IS NOW A SELECTION STATEMENT, the framework's
signature move: data (GW170817) selects the stress-triggered
sandpile within the model class — the fourth time an executioner
has chosen the model's structure (LARES-2 chose rank 2; LIGO chose
inertia; the m_g bound chose marginality; GW170817 chooses the
trigger).

## The campaign board after n149
c_g = c: conditional theorem (universal part Lorentz [standard] +
stress-triggered pinning [selected by GW170817]). Remaining owed:
transversality of the marginal sector; the coupling normalization;
then Weinberg closes. The junction's remaining risk is no longer
the speed — it is whether the stress-triggered marginal state can
be BUILT explicitly. That construction is the campaign's endgame.
