## The quadrilemma (each corner closed by computation)
(i) FREE COMPOSITES: the TT pair spectral weight vanishes at the
    lightlike edge as (omega-cq)^2.7 — collinear pairs are
    longitudinal. chi_TT finite at the cone; a bound state would be
    massive; tuning forbidden. [n140, measured]
(ii) STRAIN + INERTIA: the FS metric's bands are gapped everywhere
    (5.7e-3, shear) and FLAT (curvature -3.7e-5, even negative):
    c_g^2/m_g^2 = -6.5e-3 a^2 — NO inertia mu_g satisfies m_g <
    1.3e-23 eV and c_gw = c jointly. The passive strain sector
    cannot be the graviton. [n141 + tonight, measured]
(iii) DISPLACEMENT (substrate phonons): gapless at c by translation
    symmetry — but VECTOR-polarized (a vector field's transverse
    modes), and as metric perturbations h = sym grad(u) they are
    pure gauge (no curvature). LIGO/Virgo polarization tests favor
    tensor; corner excluded observationally and geometrically.
(iv) THE PUMP AT GAUSSIAN LEVEL: the isotropically driven block is
    METRIC-TRANSPARENT (S = D/kappa * I independent of the modulated
    stiffness: effective potential exactly linear in the metric
    mode, zero curvature — a lemma, confirmed numerically); the
    g-channel HARDENS at the Lambda scale (curvature = 2 x the pump
    bill). The pump cannot cancel a substrate-scale gap; it can add
    a Hubble-scale whisper. [tonight, exact + numeric]

## What the crisis is NOT
Newton, the PN statics, the locks, the decoherence sector, the dark
sector, the cosmology: ALL UNTOUCHED — they ride the audited channel
(overdamped, frame-protected, n139). The near-zone is healthy. The
crisis is RADIATION only: an instantaneous-channel binary field
falls as 1/R^3 at the wave zone (computed by power counting), and
LIGO measures 1/R waves with tensor polarization. GW150914 exists;
this framework, tonight, cannot make one.

## The three doors left (named, none free)
D1 CRITICALITY: the coupling sector self-organizes to a critical
   point where the shear gap closes (driven-dissipative generic
   scale invariance / SOC). Requirement to derive, not assume: WHY
   the NESS sits at the threshold. Beyond-Gaussian; the only door
   that keeps full emergence. [open computation, hard]
D2 THE CONCESSION: a fundamental spin-2 substrate field — the
   graviton is NOT emergent; the audit still owns statics, the knee,
   Lambda's sign, the dark sector. A big concession with a clean
   shape: the framework would become "GR's tensor core + the audit's
   quantum dressing". Honest, survivable, deflationary.
D3 A NEW CARRIER inside the existing structure that tonight's map
   missed. The map is public precisely so someone can find the gap
   in the map rather than in the sky.

## The stakes, stated the way the program always states them
Prediction 17's phenomenology (no dipole, pure tensor, c_gw = c,
transparency) remains registered — those were substrate-general
claims and their kills stand. But its MECHANISM is now a named
crisis. If D1 fails and D2 is refused, the framework dies on the
existence of gravitational waves — the single most secure
experimental fact it faces. No spin, no retreat: the next campaign
is D1 or the concession.
