# n133 — the blind closure, first pass: a retraction and a four-digit target

## Act 1 — correction (a) resolved by convention analysis: RETRACTION
S_inf's definition was recovered from the source (n46b): the audited
sector's stiffness S(q') = W(q')/q'^2 at the staggered point, with the
Fubini-Study kernel and the budget constraint A = 1 + shift; S_inf is
the L -> infinity extrapolation (1/L^2 fits, +-0.30). CONSEQUENCE:
the audited EM sector's Coulomb coefficient is 1/(S_inf q'^2) BY
DEFINITION — there is no separate mouth normalization in the chain.
The 1.092 "lattice mouth correction" (n120) was a small-r artifact of
the BARE Laplacian, a different object; applying it was an error of
convention mixing. RETRACTED. Last night's "144.0, 5.1% away" is
withdrawn; the hardened point is
   alpha^-1 = S_inf/pi = 157.19 +- 0.10        [the chain, frozen]
14.7% from nature — worse than yesterday's optimistic reading, and
published anyway, because the correction that helped was the one
that was wrong.

## Act 2 — correction (b) sharpened to ONE dimensionless number
The remaining term is the UNIFICATION: the topological branch's
charge (a winding, an edge object, n115-n123) and the audited EM
sector's charge (a staggered budget, a site object, n85-n88) have
not been identified. The winding couples to the Gauss mode with an
overlap eta_o; the chain closes as alpha^-1 = S_inf/(pi eta_o^2).
THE FOUR-DIGIT TARGET, pre-registered now:
   eta_o^2 = 1.1471 +- 0.0007
   (from S_inf = 493.83 +- 0.30 against nature's 137.036)
- If the unification computation returns eta_o^2 = 1.1471(7): alpha
  closes and the framework has computed the fine-structure constant.
- If it returns eta_o^2 = 1 (the naive identification) or anything
  else: THE ALPHA READING DIES, with four digits on its stone.
The 3.604 debt (n94) has completed its descent: 3.604 -> 1.147 ->
a single defined overlap integral in a single defined computation
(the handle-in-the-audited-metric run: a handle complex under the
n46 Fubini-Study machinery, its winding charge read by the staggered
Gauss mode). Heavy but bounded; the program's next mountain.
