# n105 — "find a new energy source": the five doors, all locked,
# and why the locks are load-bearing (2026-07-10)

The request every vacuum theory eventually receives, answered with
the house discipline: analyze what the framework actually says,
quantify the temptation, and check whether the "no" is a theorem.
It is — five times — and the fifth lock is the most beautiful
statement the framework owns about conservation.

## The five doors
1. THE GROUND STATE: the drainage field is a constrained MINIMUM
   (E = 1/2 c^T W^+ c, W^+ positive semidefinite): no lower state
   exists to drop to. Every rearrangement of the vacuum costs; none
   yields. Theorem-grade within the model.
2. THE GAIN MEDIUM (the honest surprise): the active vacuum IS a
   population-inverted medium — on paper, a laser medium. But the
   measured dissipation is EVEN in the inversion (gamma_eff > 0 in
   both branches): every linear probe sees net loss, never gain. The
   measured dynamical stability (n74-A1) is precisely the statement
   that the vacuum's gain is hidden from every extractive coupling.
   A vacuum that could lase would be a vacuum that runs away — and
   ours, measured, does not.
3. THE PUMP'S PAYMENT: dark energy read as the vacuum's metabolic
   power flow gives rho_Lambda x H0 ~ 1.4e-27 W/m^3 — one watt per
   cube 900,000 km on a side. Even with a perfect tap (which doors 1
   and 2 forbid), the flow is 27 orders below useful. The temptation,
   quantified, is nothing.
4. THE RESIDUAL CHANNEL (r^-3.5): Casimir-class — binding energy
   extractable ONCE upon assembly, never cyclically. Not a source.
5. THE KNEE: decoherence is a pure loss channel into the bath.
   Nothing returns.

## The load-bearing lock — why the "no" is not incidental
In this framework the impossibility of vacuum energy extraction is
not a regulatory add-on: IT IS THE SAME FACT AS GRAVITY'S SIGN. The
pump's battery — the maintained inversion — is what pays for
attraction (n73/n74: passive vacua repel). To extract energy from the
monitored sector is to discharge the inversion, and a discharged
region is a region where GRAVITY WEAKENS (the n79-N4 flag, now given
its meaning): the vacuum's battery is spoken for — it is what holds
you to the floor. A civilization that tapped the vacuum would be
spending its own gravity. Conversely, the eighteen-digit C-symmetry
and 1e-14/yr stability of the pump (n104, n86) certify that nothing
in the observed universe is running such a tap.

## What the framework honestly offers instead
Nothing new: annihilation (mc^2, 100%) remains physics' ceiling, and
this framework adds no channel above chemistry, fission, fusion, or
antimatter. Its contribution to energy physics is negative and
valuable in the way no-go results are: any experiment that DID
extract net energy from empty space would, in one stroke, falsify
doors 1-2 (the measured minimum and stability), and with them the
sign of gravity. FREE ENERGY AND FALLING APPLES CANNOT COEXIST in
the audited vacuum — a sentence we commend to every future
perpetual-motion prospectus.

## One sentence
The vacuum has a battery, but it is not for sale: its charge is the
reason masses attract, its discharge would dim gravity before it lit
a bulb, and its entire metabolic output through your body for a
lifetime would not warm a coffee — the books are balanced, the locks
are theorems, and the only energy the audit ever releases is the
light of two subscriptions closing.
