# n102 — the de Broglie frequency, interpreted (2026-07-10)

De Broglie's 1924 thesis attached to every particle an internal
periodic phenomenon at omega = mc^2/hbar — a postulate that founded
wave mechanics and was never given a mechanism. The audited vacuum
supplies one, and it is the framework's most natural sentence.

## 1. The de Broglie frequency is the vacuum's billing rate
In this framework a particle IS a maintained pattern: its mass is its
maintenance cost, and the cost is paid continuously. The quantum
phase is the receipt counter: hbar is the cost per radian, so the
phase advances at
   omega = E/hbar = mc^2/hbar — one turn per hbar of paid maintenance.
DE BROGLIE'S INTERNAL CLOCK IS THE LEDGER'S POSTING RATE for that
particle. Rest energy is not stored in the particle; it is the FLOW
of the vacuum's upkeep — existence as subscription, not purchase. "A
particle is a process": de Broglie's periodic phenomenon, given its
bookkeeping.

## 2. The knee identity: one audit per 137 turns
The predicted audit rate (n93) is gamma = alpha * mc^2/hbar — i.e.
EXACTLY alpha times the anchor particle's de Broglie frequency:
   THE VACUUM CHECKS THE BOOKS ONCE EVERY 1/alpha ~ 137 TURNS OF THE
   INTERNAL CLOCK.
Why alpha? It is the audited sector's own coupling (1/S_inf): the
audit samples through the charge sector, at the coupling's rate per
tick. [Heuristic reading of an exact formula — the formula is n93's,
the "per-137-turns" gloss is interpretation, flagged as such.]

## 3. Redshift is the billing clock reading the potential
omega(x) = m c^2 (1 + Phi)/hbar: gravitational time dilation IS the
de Broglie clock slowing where maintenance is cheaper — measured in
the framework (linear, universal, residual -> exact as 1/N). And the
gradient theorem partitions all clocks: energy-derived (de
Broglie-type) clocks feel the potential; anything else sees only
tides. Every real clock is ultimately a de Broglie clock — WHICH IS
the framework's derivation of universality: all clocks redshift
identically because all clocks are, at bottom, the same billing
counter.

## 4. Contact with experiment, past and future
- The "Compton clock" (Lan et al., Science 2013) ran a cesium
  interferometer as a clock at omega = m_Cs c^2/hbar: on this
  reading, IT WEIGHED THE VACUUM'S BILL for one atom (1.9e26
  turns/s). Every matter-wave interferometer since de Broglie has
  been reading receipt counters.
- The dark-state structure predicts the de Broglie phase of a resting
  particle is NOISELESS (no vacuum-origin phase diffusion): rolling
  test in every atom interferometer's contrast budget — same family

- Binding energies enter the bill exactly (E, not rest masses of
  parts): molecule interferometry with different isotopologues/binding
  checks the equivalence of "mass" and "bill" — consistent to date.

## 5. Honest flags
- The de Broglie WAVELENGTH (lambda = h/p, the moving-particle beat)
  requires boosts: the framework has no Lorentz sector yet (the
  tensor junction's debt) — the standard relativistic derivation
  (internal clock + boost = matter wave) is INHERITED, not derived.
- The per-137-turns reading depends on the electron anchor (n93's
  bet); the proton anchor would read "once per 137 turns of the
  proton's clock." The knee experiment picks.

existence continuously and hbar is the price of one radian; gravity
